Your nephew runs 5km every morning, eats salads for lunch, avoids red meat — and still gets a cardiac stent at 32. You read about it on WhatsApp, feel the shock, scroll past. But here's what you're missing: this is no longer rare. This is the new normal in urban India, and cardiology has built an entire business model around NOT asking why.
Dr Naveen Bhamri, a senior cardiologist, recently explained the warning signs of early heart attacks in young, apparently healthy Indians. His message is correct but incomplete. Yes, young fit people are having heart attacks. Yes, you need to watch for chest discomfort, shortness of breath, unusual fatigue. Yes, get your lipid profile checked. But here's what he won't tell you: the angiogram that diagnosed the blockage? That's a revenue event. The stent insertion? That's a 2-3 lakh rupee transaction. The statins prescribed for life? That's recurring revenue.
The cardiologist is not lying about the symptoms. The cardiologist is just not asking the question that matters: Why is a 32-year-old's artery blocked in the first place? What broke the system that should have kept him healthy?
India is living through a silent cardiovascular epidemic. Not because of genetics. Not because Indians are uniquely predisposed to heart disease. But because in the last 20 years, we've imported American food systems, American toxicity, and American cardiology — all without asking if any of it works.
Between 2000 and 2020, heart disease mortality in urban India tripled. During the same period, statin consumption quadrupled. Angiography procedures increased five-fold. If the system was working, these numbers should have moved in opposite directions. They didn't. Why? Because treating the symptom (blocked artery) while ignoring the root cause (why the artery became inflamed in the first place) is like mopping the floor while the tap is still running.
Your nephew's blocked artery didn't appear overnight. It appeared because for five years, his arterial walls were being corroded by something. Refined seed oils in his "healthy" restaurant meals. Pesticide residues in his wheat. Processed sugar masquerading as health food. Chronic parasitic load from contaminated water. Systemic acidity from stress and poor digestion. Pick any two of these, run them for five years, and you get inflammation. Run inflammation for five years, and you get a blocked artery. Then you meet a cardiologist.
I've spent 35 years in manufacturing. I understand systems. Modern cardiology is a system that profits from disease, not health. The proof is simple: if cardiology prevented disease, India's heart attack rates would be falling. They're not. They're accelerating — especially in the young, fit, "healthy" demographic.
The four root causes of arterial degeneration are not complicated. Acidity. Inflammation. Toxin load. Parasites. Remove all four, and your endothelium (the innermost layer of your artery) regenerates. Your ejection fraction improves. Your homocysteine falls. Your inflammation markers normalize. You do not need a stent. You do not need statins. You need a system reset — not a pill bottle.
First: get your inflammation markers tested, not just your cholesterol. CRP, homocysteine, lipoprotein(a) — these tell you what's actually happening inside your arteries. Lipid panel alone is incomplete intelligence.
Second: audit your food. Not the label. The source. Where is your wheat grown? What pesticides? Where is your oil pressed? Is it seed oil (inflammatory) or ghee (anti-inflammatory)? You cannot out-run bad food. Your nephew tried.
Third: address acidity and parasitic load simultaneously. This is not alternative medicine — this is root cause analysis. Chronic intestinal parasites trigger systemic inflammation. Chronic acidity erodes your arterial wall. Neither is diagnosed in routine checkups. Both are reversible without drugs.
Your cardiologist will not tell you this because he does not profit from your health. He profits from your illness. That's not evil — that's how the system is built.
