When an audit comes, your paper trail shows you were ahead of the game. When they find nothing irregular, even bureaucratic harassment has limits. Incomplete compliance is an open invitation.

Third: Build relationships with regulatory officials NOW, before you need them. Not bribes — relationships. Invite GST officers to plant inaugurations, consult with pollution boards before expansion, brief customs on your import patterns. When relationships exist, raids become conversations. When relationships don't exist, routine checks become vendetta.
