# Ram Temple Donation Row: Who Really Controls Bharat's Sacred Wealth?

Seventy-five years after Independence, we still cannot collect donations for our holiest shrine without forming an SIT and detaining an employee — and this is by design, not accident.

But here is the problem nobody wants to say loudly: the systems being invoked to "investigate" the Ram Temple were never designed to protect Hindu institutions. They were designed by colonisers — and maintained by post-colonial administrators — to keep temples under state surveillance and control. The SIT, the audits, the detention protocols, the NGO accountability frameworks — all of it operates on the assumption that Hindu temples are inherently untrustworthy until proven otherwise.

H2: What This Means for India

Compare the Ram Temple's scrutiny to how Waqf boards operate across India. Autonomous. Self-governed. Rarely questioned with this intensity. Compare it to Church properties and their independent management structures. One institution is watched. Others are trusted. This asymmetry is not coincidence — it is structural.

When Bharatiya devotees contribute to the Ram Mandir, they are performing an act of dharma, of sacred duty. That money flows through a trust that must operate under state-designed frameworks built on colonial suspicion of Hindu practices. Meanwhile, wakf properties operate with cultural autonomy. Church institutions manage their own accountability. Only Hindu temples — the civilisational spine of Bharat — require external surveillance to be deemed trustworthy.

The real damage is not the one employee who may have mishandled funds. The real damage is that every Hindu institution learns this lesson: your money, your sacred contributions, will be managed under a system that assumes your untrustworthiness. This creates a psychological dependency on state approval for even purely religious activities. This is soft institutional colonisation.

H2: The Deeper Story Nobody is Telling

Vinay Katiyar's demand for strict action is correct on principle. Transparency matters. Sacred trust must be honoured. But demanding action within colonial frameworks is like asking a prisoner to be grateful for the quality of his chains.

The solution is not better auditing. It is constitutional autonomy for Hindu institutions — the same autonomy granted to Waqfs under Article 363, the same cultural recognition given to Christian communities. The Ram Temple Trust should have the freedom to establish its own governance standards, its own accountability mechanisms, rooted in Vedic principles of dharmic stewardship. Until that happens, every rupee collected at the mandir will flow through systems of external suspicion designed by people who never understood or respected what the Ram Temple actually is.

H2: The Vedic Pattern

In Vedic times, the temple was the economic and cultural centre of the samaj. Donations — dana — were managed by community institutions with complete autonomy. The principle was simple: dharmic institutions, managed by dharmic people, accountable to dharmic principles. No external surveillance. No colonial bureaucracy. Just trust rooted in civilisational values.

We have forgotten this. Or rather, we have allowed the colonial state to convince us that our own institutions cannot be trusted without its permission.
