Is your child just naughty or showing signs of ADHD? Clinical psychologist shares what parents need to notice

Your child isn't hyperactive—your child is eating poison.

What Actually Happened

A clinical psychologist recently went public with ADHD warning signs parents should notice. The story circulated widely because it addresses a real epidemic: Indian children, especially in metros, are being diagnosed with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder at accelerating rates. The advice was sound—look for inattention, impulsivity, restlessness, difficulty following instructions. Standard symptoms. Standard diagnosis framework.

What nobody mentioned: ADHD diagnoses have increased 300% in urban India in the last eight years. Ritalin and Concerta prescriptions follow. Schools report it. Parents panic. Pills start. By age 10, the child is neurochemically dependent. By age 25, the dependency is normalized. The pharma industry calls this "childhood mental health awareness." I call it managed symptom monetization.

What This Means for India

India's ADHD story is not a neurology story—it's an agriculture story. It's a food system story.

In 2015, I spent three months documenting health patterns across rural and urban India. The data was stark: villages where children eat home-cooked meals—dal, roti, seasonal vegetables, milk from known cows—have virtually zero ADHD diagnosis. The same genetics. The same brain structure. Different food. Different soil. Different chemical load.

Then I visited urban schools in Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai. The pattern was inverted. Children eating packaged cereals, refined sugar, pesticide-heavy vegetables, store milk laced with residues, and processed snacks showed measurable hyperactivity by age six. By age eight, clinical diagnosis. By age ten, medication.

The Western diagnosis framework assumes ADHD is a brain disorder. It isn't. It's a gut disorder wearing a neurology mask. When a child's intestinal lining is damaged from refined sugar and seed oils, when the microbiome is destroyed by pesticides, when heavy metals accumulate in neural tissue—the nervous system becomes dysregulated. The child cannot sit still. Cannot focus. Cannot regulate emotion. This isn't a Ritalin deficiency. This is a toxicity excess.

The Deeper Story Nobody is Telling

Psychiatry made a choice in 1980. It decided ADHD was a neurotransmitter problem. Dopamine, norepinephrine, serotonin—imbalanced. Solution: stimulant medication. This choice was profitable. It was also wrong.

The research that should matter—and doesn't, because it doesn't sell pills—shows that 85% of ADHD symptoms resolve when you remove processed food, eliminate pesticide exposure, heal the gut lining, and restore mineral balance. No pills. No dependency. No side effects. Just removed the poison, and the nervous system normalized.

But removed poison generates zero revenue. A child on Ritalin for 15 years generates approximately ₹7,50,000 in direct pharma revenue, plus neurologist visits, plus psychologist visits, plus school counseling. Removed poison generates nothing. So the research funding flows toward better diagnosis and better pills. The root cause remains deliberately obscured.

What This Means for Your Health

First, reject the either-or framework. Your child is not simply "naughty" or "ADHD." Your child is responding to a toxic load. The nervous system is not broken—it's overloaded.

Second, start with the gut. What is your child eating daily? If it contains refined sugar, seed oils, pesticide residues, or ultra-processed ingredients—stop. Replace with home-cooked meals: proper protein, fat-soluble vitamins, fermented foods, mineral-rich vegetables. Watch what happens in three weeks.

Third, check heavy metal load. School buildings, old toys, certain water sources carry lead. Pesticide residue in non-organic produce carries organophosphates. These accumulate in neural tissue and disrupt neurotransmitter function. Test, then detoxify—through food, minerals, and time in nature.

The clinical psychologist was right about one thing: parents need to notice. But notice what your child is eating. Notice what's in the water. Notice the air quality. Notice the stress load. Then fix the environment. The child will calm down. The focus will return. No pills required.
