The assignment included Islamic prayers and religious teachings — not comparative religion, not cultural awareness, but active religious instruction. This incident is not an isolated mistake by one misguided educator. This is a symptom of a much larger disease running through our education system. The teacher was the visible culprit. But who designed the curriculum? Who approved these assignments? Who has been normalizing the assignment of religious homework to children of different faiths in "secular" schools? What This Means for India

For eighty years, Indian textbooks systematically erased Vedic science, Chanakya's governance models, Sanskrit mathematics, and the philosophical depth of our civilization. Meanwhile, Western education was sanctified as the gold standard. Our own children learned that Bharat was a primitive society waiting for colonial enlightenment. This was conversion through curriculum — slow, institutional, invisible.

Now the method has evolved. Direct religious instruction sneaked into "secular" homework is the new frontier. The Hyderabad case is not unique — it is the one that got caught. How many schools are doing this quietly in Kerala, in Bangalore, in Mumbai? How many Hindu parents send their children to schools thinking they are secular, only to have their children introduced to other religious doctrines as "learning activities"? The silence of parents who don't know this is happening is deafening.

What this means is simple: the battle for India's future is being fought not in temples or political rallies, but in classrooms. A child's worldview, identity, and relationship with their own civilization is formed between ages 6 and 12. If we lose those years, we have lost a generation to civilisational amnesia. A Hindu child should know about Vedas, Yoga, Sanskrit, and the mathematical brilliance of ancient Bharat before being exposed to comparative religion. This is not communalism — this is civilisational literacy.

The Deeper Story Nobody is Telling

The Hyderabad teacher was fired because the case became public. But firing one teacher treats the symptom while the disease continues spreading through curriculum boards, educational consultants, and textbook writers who decide what our children learn. Nobody asked: How did this assignment get into the school system in the first place? What training did this teacher receive that made her think this was appropriate? Who else in her training institution believes this is acceptable?

This is systemic. The deeper story is that we have outsourced curriculum decision-making to people who either do not understand Bharatiya civilization or actively work against it. NGOs, international education boards, and globally-funded educational initiatives shape what our children study. And we celebrate it as "modernization" and "global standards." Meanwhile, our own children become strangers to their own heritage.

The Vedic Pattern

The Vedas taught us that a child's education begins with knowing who they are — their lineage, their civilization, their dharmic inheritance. Upanishads said vidya — true knowledge — comes from understanding the self first, then the world. We did not teach other religions to children before they knew their own because education was not about conversion — it was about enlightenment. The pattern is ancient and it is civilisationally sound. Teach the child their roots first. Everything else follows naturally.

Bharat is finally waking up. The question every parent must now ask: What is my child actually being taught? Not what the prospectus says. What actually goes into their homework, their textbooks, their classroom discussions? Because the Hyderabad case is just the beginning. The real reckoning is coming.
