Last week, police in Uttar Pradesh arrested nine people running a systematic fake diploma racket targeting desperate youth. They sold forged Ayurveda certificates promising government jobs that existed only on paper. Fourteen victims have been rescued so far. The scammers operated across multiple cities, charging lakhs from poor families whose sons and daughters dreamed of becoming health practitioners.

This is not a small-time fraud. This is an industrial operation. The certificates were professionally printed, embossed, and matched real college formats. The gang had networks of job "placement consultants" feeding them clients. For each fake diploma, they guaranteed government job postings that never materialised. By the time victims discovered the truth, they had already paid the money and sometimes even started "practicing" with fake credentials.

What This Means for India

But here is the pattern nobody is reading correctly. Why are youth so desperate for Ayurveda certificates that they will buy them illegally?

Because legitimate Ayurveda colleges in India are deliberately starved. They receive minimal government funding. Job placements are almost non-existent. The degree is not recognised at the same level as allopathy degrees. So talented students either migrate to MBBS or quit. The ones left behind — poor, determined, stuck — become soft targets for certificate mafia.

This is not accidental. This is by design. When Ayurveda education collapses from inside, Ayurveda practice collapses with it. Unqualified practitioners emerge. Real healers cannot find work. Big pharma does not fear Ayurveda degrees on paper. It fears Ayurveda practitioners in practice.
