A political party that recites Hanuman Chalisa to harvest votes is not protecting Sanatan Dharma—it is harvesting it.

What Actually Happened

Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party launched a signature drive framing the Ram Mandir situation as "dacoity"—robbery. The optics were clear: Hanuman Chalisa recitals, temple visits, moral outrage. The narrative was sharper: AAP as the defender of Hindu faith against forces that loot our holiest sites.

But timing tells the real story. AAP lost Delhi 2025. Lost Punjab to Mann. Lost every major governance metric that once made the party relevant—education delivery collapsed, water quality declined, electricity subsidies became unsustainable debt. The party has no factory turnarounds, no economic vision, no manufacturing ecosystem to show. So it turned to what remains: the signature drive. The emotional currency of Sanatani civilisation converted into electoral fuel.

What This Means for India

This is how political death looks in a democracy. Not with a bang, but with borrowed puja.

When a party exhausts its governance model, it pivots to identity politics. But India's Hindu resurgence was never meant to be AAP's campaign asset. Sanatan Dharma has survived 5000 years not because of signature drives but because of tapasya, sacrifice, and civilisational memory kept alive in homes, temples, and the collective consciousness of people who asked nothing from politicians in return.

AAP's move exposes something darker: the weaponisation of faith itself. A Hanuman Chalisa recital becomes a photo opportunity. A temple visit becomes a press release. Svadharma becomes strategy. This is not new in Indian politics, but it has rarely been this nakedly transactional. When faith is no longer a lived practice but a tool for harvesting signatures, both spirituality AND governance collapse together.

The Deeper Story Nobody is Telling

The real issue is not the Ram Mandir situation itself—that requires separate, serious investigation. The real issue is what AAP's desperation reveals about the state of Indian political institutions.

A genuine pro-Sanatan party does not need signature drives. It builds temples. It protects pilgrims. It enacts laws that enforce Hindu succession, property, and worship rights. It strengthens the ecosystem that allows Sanatani knowledge to flourish in schools, in media, in the legal system. AAP has done none of this in Delhi or Punjab. Instead, it performs faith when votes are at stake and abandons temples when they are not.

This is the death of the secular-liberal consensus in Indian politics—but not its replacement with anything real. It is replacement with theatre. With borrowed authenticity. With Hindu nationalism as a weekend activity, not a civilisational project.

The Vedic Pattern

The Bhagavad Gita teaches Arjuna: Svadharma shreyah paradharmat. One's own dharma, however imperfect, is superior to another's dharma well-executed. AAP abandoned its own dharma—transparent governance, systemic reform, institutional accountability—to execute someone else's dharma: the protection of temples. The result is neither.

When politicians forget their own purpose, they become corrosive to every purpose around them. Faith included.

AAP's signature drive is a symptom, not a strategy. Sanatani India must ask: which parties strengthen Hindu civilisation through institutions, policy, and sustained commitment? Which ones merely harvest its emotional currency during elections?
